Hey I would like to give you some thoughts for this piece. I'm a digital artist so I don't know much about phototechniques.
You asked why people may keep away from this piece. I can only talk for myself but I have seen a lot of theese poses. Don't get me wrong it is well made,
the lightning and the composing is almost perfect but personally I don't like her eye-makeup for example. It's unflattering for her face and hides her natural, beatiful eyes.
When I watch photographys I like the fact when the character of the posed person hits you with the first look at it. With the make up it could be a photo for a commercial or a model portfolio.

I repeat it's perfectly done and she is a real beauty and maybe it's just a little detail like her makeup or something but that is sometimes all it takes to get your attention to another piece.

I hope this is some kind of help :/

I really like the warmth in the photo as most winter photos always has the cool and cold look to it. As PoeticPerfectionist mentioned, her eyes really do pop.  I really like the bold and vibrant color choices used for the model and what the model did with her hair to kind of have that contrast with the season.

With the over exposure part, you can try the dodge and burn technique to help bring down the over exposed areas to kind of bring back what was lost in the overly exposed light if possible.

Overall, you've really got an eye for the use of the rule of thirds and I think that I can learn a thing of two from you when it comes to proper placement etc.

The rule of thirds works well here. You've made her face sharp and the background blurred quite nicely as well. Whoever did the models make up deserves recognition as well, the eyes really pop.

My only complaint is that you've lost some of the detail of the right side of her face because the shutter speed was too long causing the photo to be overexposed. Aside form that it's a lovely photo!
